Touching down in Tree Hill, Peyton contemplated her next move. It was nine in the morning and that meant Luke would most likely be asleep. Brooke would already have gotten Matthew off to school and she didn't feel like meeting Dean or Sam face to face. A thought crossed her mind about finding Brooke at her store but she had something more important to do.
She had made the wrong choice. Julian was not the one for her and never would be. Love wasn't enough on her end. She didn't love him. She loved Lucas.
It was the reverse situation where Peyton couldn't wait for Luke to come around. It was terrible and horrible and she had a knot in her stomach as she climbed out of the cab in front of Brooke's house. She stopped by long enough to pick up her keys to the Comet before slipping out quietly. She might have woken Dean. She might have not. She didn't care.
She sat in front of Luke's house for ten minutes before turning off the ignition and making her way up to the door. Deliberately, she knocked, sucking in a breath of her. She was ready to be wrong, to be the one who had made the mistake to be the one to suck in her pride and say, "I love you, Luke," as the door opened.
